The term ‘gaining ground’ can mean many things, but my favorite is to make progress.
When I started this blog, we had just sold our house in Arizona, and were moving our family to Iowa, to a farmhouse on a couple of acres. We had planned on settling in there, next to the corn and soy fields, and raising our kids to run under the wide open sky with their cousins.
But life throws a curveball sometimes. Before we had truly dug roots into the Midwest soil it turned out that work would be relocating us again. Not what we had planned, but — when does life ever go exactly to plan?
So we would be losing the farmhouse acreage, but this just meant we needed to find some new ground. To move forward: onwards and upwards.
This is what we are all looking for in life, right? To learn from both our triumphs and our mistakes. To know better and to do better.
