If you’ve been following along (or if you know us IRL) we’ve moved quite a bit in the last few years. We had movers box up our things for our move from Arizona to Iowa and then, just two short years later, we had our things boxed up again for another move.
Which means that there were some items from our Arizona house that we never got around to unpacking at the Iowa house.
Moving into the Kansas City house, we are determined to unpack every single box. Get organized and get settled.
There were surprises along the way: some pleasant (oh, so that’s where that thing was this whole time) and some unpleasant (mice!). But none of these surprises were more incredible than what lay within the nondescript cardboard box labeled “Misc Garage.”
When we were attempting to unpack in Iowa, most of the boxes we didn’t get around to opening involved the items for which we didn’t have immediate use – camping gear, scuba gear, and other miscellany from the garage. So this box has now been moved twice – once from AZ to IA and once from IA to KC.
We open the box and find….
Chris’s bowling ball. Packed in its special little duffel, with a small amount of padding around it.
But wait, it gets better….
We lift out the bowling ball to discover what other items are packed in this box, underneath the bowling ball. Unwrap the packing paper and reveal… GRANDMA’S CHINA DISHES.
Yes, that’s correct, they packed a bowling ball in with china dishes and labelled it “Misc Garage.”
However, to their credit, we discovered that not one single dish was broken (after having been moved twice, mind you).
So, Grandma’s dishes are now safely displayed in the china hutch.
